Thank you so much for your generosity, Juliette! Your encouragement is heartfelt and truly appreciated. This was my first post from a few months ago, so it includes a selection of (mostly) older images to introduce myself to the Substack community.

Lovely, todd! The first one in your post is maybe the best I have seen of Monument Valley. WOW! Beautiful. Not to say the others are chopped liver, but I am stuck on the first one!

Thank you, Søren—your comment gave me a good laugh! Darin also commented on that Monument Valley image today, so in case you missed my reply to him, I’ll repost it here, since the location is quite unique:

“I appreciate that you recognized both the location as Monument Valley and the fact that it’s not a common perspective. The reason there aren’t many images online from this spot is because it can only be accessed with a permit and by camping with a Navajo guide in a remote, hard-to-reach area on private land. The vantage point is called Hunts Mesa—you’ll likely find more images if you search for that.”

Beautiful images, Todd. Thanks for sharing. The rugged, eroded shoreline with higgledy-piggledy fencing among the vulnerable trees is super.

Thanks, Ralph! That’s one of my favorite images too—it was taken on a lovely foggy day along the California coast, near Monterey.

Beautiful photographs, Todd! You are surely not the first nor will you the last person tired of Instagram. Substack has been a wonderful place so far likeminded people who look for a deeper connection and community.

Thank you for the kind words, Susanne! It feels good to have my first post behind me - I probably overanalyzed it over the past few days. 🙄 After following other amazing photographers like yourself for a couple of months, I was quite motivated to join this fast-growing and supportive community!

Overanalysing, have second thoughts, doubting whether it’s a good idea to press to “publish” button. I know all that too well! Even after two years of writing my newsletter, it all sometimes still kicks in! 🙈
